New Jersey is live on Travelog with one city, West Orange, home to Thomas Edison National Historical Park. Edison's West Orange laboratory, opened in 1887 and ten times the size of his earlier Menlo Park lab, was where more than half of his 1,093 lifetime patents were developed, including the motion picture camera. Entrance costs $15 for visitors 16 and older; a separate $1 ticket covers a guided tour of Edison's home, the Glenmont Estate.
West Orange holds a documented claim to being the birthplace of more than half of Edison's inventions, worth understanding as genuine industrial history, covered in full below, closing out the Northeast region's Tier 3 states.
