Poland

Poland is live on Travelog with three cities across three regions: Kraków, inscribed in 1978 as one of UNESCO's original first 12 World Heritage Sites, Warsaw, listed in 1980 for a uniquely complete post-war reconstruction, and Toruń, added in 1997 for its remarkably preserved medieval street pattern and Copernicus's birthplace.

Kraków, Warsaw, and Toruń each earned UNESCO recognition for a genuinely different reason: Kraków for surviving World War II largely intact and being honored among the very first sites UNESCO ever listed, Warsaw for the opposite story, a city UNESCO recognized specifically for how completely it was rebuilt after deliberate wartime destruction, and Toruń for medieval continuity that never suffered either fate. All three cities and their landmark pages are live now.

  • Lesser Poland Kraków, one of the first 12 sites UNESCO ever inscribed in 1978, with Wawel Castle and St Mary's Basilica as standalone landmark pages.
  • Masovia Warsaw, listed in 1980 for a uniquely complete reconstruction of a deliberately, totally destroyed historic centre.
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Toruń, added in 1997 for its exceptionally preserved medieval street pattern and Nicolaus Copernicus's birthplace.
