North Macedonia

North Macedonia is live on Travelog with one city, Ohrid, part of a mixed UNESCO site first inscribed in 1979 for natural values and extended in 1980 for cultural heritage. As of UNESCO's most recent assessment, the site avoided the List of World Heritage in Danger but was found not improving, with documented threats from illegal construction, wastewater management, and over-tourism, and North Macedonia and Albania were given five years to demonstrate concrete progress.

Ohrid's UNESCO story is genuinely still unfolding, a site UNESCO itself says is "not improving," worth understanding as active, current conservation concern rather than settled history. Its landmark page is live now.
