China is live on Travelog with all six locked cities. Beijing (the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven) and Macau (the Historic Centre) both carry direct UNESCO World Heritage listings. Shanghai (the Bund), Hong Kong (Victoria Peak), Guangzhou (Chen Clan Ancestral Hall), and Shenzhen (Dapeng Ancient City) carry none, anchored instead to municipal, provincial, or state heritage protection.

All six of China's locked cities are now live: Beijing, Macau, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Beijing and Macau carry direct UNESCO status; Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen carry none, each anchored honestly to municipal, provincial, or state heritage protection instead.

Macau The Historic Centre, UNESCO-listed 2005, built on 400+ years of Portuguese-Chinese cultural exchange.
Shanghai The Bund's 52 historic buildings, no UNESCO listing, sat largely closed to the public for nearly 50 years after 1949.
Hong Kong Victoria Peak, reached by Asia's first cable funicular, which carried nearly Hong Kong's entire population in its first year of 1888.
Guangzhou Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, funded collectively by 72 Chen clans across Guangdong Province to house scholars traveling for imperial exams.
Shenzhen Dapeng Ancient City, built 1394 to fight Japanese pirates, survived a 40-day siege in 1571, and is Shenzhen's only state-protected historical site.
